Ancestor hells

Source: TW

From a Christian point of view your ancestors, unless you are a Jew, were gentiles who God hated. And all in hell, and dont let the harrowing of hell thing fool you. The figures mentioned in those (non canonized for some reason) scriptures were all Jewish.

Limbo

Christians came up with this whole idea of the Old Testament patriarchs being in a kind of limbo or Sheol before Jesus came because if they went to heaven before Jesus, what exactly did you need Jesus for? Moses and Elijah being exceptions, too ingrained in Judaism that they were taken bodily up to heaven. But the rest needed saving because in of specific Christian ideas about how that works.

“nor did He ascend into the heights of heaven before descending into the lower parts of the earth, that He might there make the patriarchs and prophets partakers of Himself.”

Tertullian, on the soul. Repeatedly it is the old testament figures this was said to be for.

Plato

No one until much later brought up the idea of Plato or some other pagan being saved. And certainly not a general salvation of people in general.

Protestant

If you are protestant you can safely believe most catholic ancestors are damned too.
